Jax Bayne is an autistic nonbinary research meta analyst and bhakti yoga practitioner. Their primary research focuses on the discussion and treatment of traumagenic neurodevelopment, psychoneuroimmunology, unconditionally constructive sociocultural reform, and learning how to become the change they wish to see in the world.
Rakshita Shekhar is a teacher advocate of autistic students in India. She feels happiest when autistic children find happiness in their school and can access learning in their most preferred way. She is the mother of a toddler and loves to remind herself to “Live and Let live”.

Autistic sociocultural immunity challenges neurotypical perceptions of reality
Autistische immuniteit tegen het sociaalculturele systeem daagt neurotypische waarnemingen van de werkelijkheid uit.
Being autistic in predominantly neurotypical societies can be quite challenging. However, due to neurodevelopmental divergences, the autistic sense of self is not linked to social status like for most neurotypicals. Therefore, autistics are more aware of the arbitrariness of sociocultural constructs and the subjectivity of reality paradigms. When neurotypicals interact with autistics, they are forced to reevaluate the belief that an individual’s worth is based upon external factors like societal standing. This cognitive dissonance can feel like a direct attack on their personal identity as it is dependent upon the legitimacy of their current paradigm.
The questions explored in this presentation include:
1) Are neurotypicals aware of the divergent paradigms within their own society but encouraged to invalidate these perspectives because they differ from that of the dominant sociocultural system?
2) Would educating children about neurodivergence preclude many of the difficulties autistics experience attempting to exist in predominantly neurotypical societies?
Autistisch zijn in overheersend neurotypische samenlevingen kan een behoorlijke uitdaging zijn. Echter, door neurodevelopmental afwijkingen, is het autistisch zelfbewustzijn niet gelinkt aan sociale status, zoals voor de meeste neurotypische mensen. Daarom zijn autisten zich meer bewust van de willekeur in socioculturele denkbeelden en de subjectiviteit van paradigma’s van de werkelijkheid. Als neurotypische mensen contact hebben met autisten, zijn ze gedwongen om het geloof dat de waarde van een individu gebaseerd is op externe factoren zoals sociale status, opnieuw te waarderen. Deze cognitieve dissonantie kan voelen als een directe aanval op hun persoonlijke identiteit omdat deze afhankelijk is van de legitimiteit van hun huidige paradigma.
De vragen die wij gaan onderzoeken in deze presentatie omvatten:
1. Zijn neurotypische mensen zich bewust van de afwijkende paradigma’s binnen hun eigen samenleving, maar worden ze aangemoedigd om deze perspectieven te ontkrachten omdat ze verschillen van die van het dominante socioculturele systeem?
2. Zou het onderwijzen van kinderen over neurodivergentie veel van de moeilijkheden die autisten ondervinden in een overwegend neurotypische samenlevingen uitsluiten?
