Heta Pukki is a board member of the Finnish national association for autistic people, Suomen Aspergeryhdistys ry (ASY). From January 2016, she has been running a monthly discussion group on international networking and current affairs for the members of this association.

She has a long-term interest in this topic, since the late 1990’s, having found her first contact with other autistic adults on the US-based Autism Network International (ANI) mailing list, going on to encourage the adoption of ANI’s
ideas and practices in Europe.

She has participated in initiating and organizing autisticrun events in Finland from 1998 on wards, spoken in other countries about organized autistic self-advocacy, and promoted contacts by finding speakers from the UK, Netherlands, Sweden and Switzerland to visit Finland.
