Autminds differs from other conference both in content (the programme) and the target audience. Our target audience primarily is the adult with autism who has some basic understanding of his/hers autism and wants to go somewhat further, wider or deeper. The programme matches the needs of this group.
At Autminds discussions and interactions are not about us but “with us and by us” instead. About the things we hold for important. About topics that may be overlooked or orphaned elsewhere.
The programme does not aim at to deal with the medical side of autism. So don’t expect to find presentations on diagnostics, treatment or care. Instead we offer plenty of space for views from the sociological, societal or disability studies angle.
With this, the programme offers space for topics that get insufficient attention at other conferences. In this respect we believe that Autminds can rightfully be called innovative.
